Rosters Are Now Closed
Rosters are now closed as of June 1st.  This is not to say that teams cannot still add players to your rosters.  There are two instances in which teams can add players to your roster.  In both instances, league approval is now required.  New players MUST register with the league.
  1. Teams can add a player to their roster in instances of having injured players or if a rostered player leaves a team.  League approval is required.
  2. Teams can add a player to your roster if the league offers a new player (recently finding the league) to a team or teams in a divsion or if a team has "found" a new (unexperienced in league play) player; like a neighbor or co-worker.  Players who are playing in other leagues will not be allowed to join as a "new" player.
Online Rosters Must Be Completed for Player Play-off Eligibility
As agreed upon in pre-season meetings, rosters must now be up to date.  At minimum roster requirements for players are player name, player birth year, and jersey number.  The league will allow teams to update/complete their rosters until Tuesday, June 10th.  After that, if a player has not met minimum roster requirements he will not get credit for games played.

Online Selfies
Pictures of players have been implemented to help alleviate questions about the correct identities of players.  Selfies, as agreed upon in pre-season meetings are a requirement.  If you are having problems with player selfies, please contact our league webmaster, Keith Marc.  Again, rosters must have selifes by Tuesday, June 10th.  Again, after that, if a player does not have a selfie he will not get credit for games played.

Waivers
The league has stats on players who have waivers on each team, just as we have stats on current roster status and selfie status.  Waivers, not filled out are long overdue.  Compliance once again is Tuesday, June 10th.  After that, players who do not have waivers filled out will not be able to play.  Teams playing with a player who has not filled out a waiver will either have to have that player fill out a waiver on the field or not let that player play.  Remember, ineligible players on the field can result in a team forfeiting the game.  Paper waivers submitted to managers must then be completed electronically by the manager.

Inputting of Stats
As a reminder.  Teams have 10 days to input stats from games played.  The league fills this is plenty of team, especially considering over 90% of teams know this deadline from previous years.  If stats are not input 10 days after the game, the game will be locked out and the team's players will not get game played credit for play-off eligibility.  Emergency players CAN be added to your roster for purpose of making stats complete.  Jersey number can be 911.

Insurance:  Be Aware of Assumption of Risk
Be careful where you park your cars.  The insurance company this year is playing hardball and not providing coverage to player or spectators vehicles who get hit by baseballs.  They are basing this on "Assumption of Risk."  As it was explained to me by the insurance carrier, 'Players, umpires, and spectators assume the natural risks of attending a baseball game.  As such, foul balls breaking windshields or even injurying a player or spectator falls under Assumption of Risk.  It's similar to spectators at a hockey game or baseball game who get hit by a puck, baseball, or baseball bat, it's an Assumption of Risk for attending the game.

That's it now.  Ken's Korner will next highlight the Schaumburg Boomer's Labor Day Saturday Game.
