Braves Drop Bandits 14-4

Opening Day turned out a strong showing for the Braves. RHP rookie pitcher Jon Cline went 4 innings and picked up the win on a cloudy and windy Opening Day. The Braves pushed the 14th run across in the bottom of the 7th inn with LF Craig Lance on 1st, clean up hitted 3B Jim Schiltz clocked an away pitch over the head of Riverbandits CF Ryan Johnsen for a GW RBI double to win the game (10 run rule) for the Braves. SP Jon Cline went 4 innings with a pitching line of giving up 4 runs, 3 ER, 6 Ks and 5 BB. Fellow rookie pitcher Luis Zaragoz went 3 inning seeing only 10 batters in his 3 innings of work. 2 key double plays made middle relief easy for the rookie. Veteran Paul Tonietto came in to close out the game in the 7th inning, with 11 pitches. Making short of Bandits hitters, Bobbo saw the MIN 3 batters for quick work. Slugging 3B Jim Schiltz finished the day by going 3-3 (2 R, 2 2Bs, 2 RBI and 2 HBPs). Rookie SS Jose Alicea went 2-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI and SB on the day. Double Play combo of Alicea and vetran INF Jeff Reimer turned 3 double plays on the day to close out 3 innings on the day for the River Bandits.

 

Next week the Braves travel to Lake in the Hills SAT night 7PM to take on the LITH Cubs who overhauled their 2014 roster highlighting former AAA pitcher Joe Maurer and new club Mgr Phil Kronke.
