Can we play?
“In the absence of an ability to field two full competitive teams on Sunday, July 29th, the Yard Dogs were challenged by a local group of baseball teens playing a pick-up game at Behm Field in Mundelein to a friendly game of baseball. With picture perfect weather, partly cloudy and temperatures in the high seventies, the game began with some simple exceptions to H.S rules. Right field was left in play, but stealing was prohibited. The teens were off to a great start retiring six of the first nine Yard Dogs batters. With great defense on all sides, the left handed teen third baseman, overall speed of the infielders and outfielders, dominant teen pitching and defense left the Yard Dogs unable to win the game outright. The game ended after several innings as a tie. A special thank you to the players challenging the Yard Dogs on this day. We hope to see you young men (and young lady too) for a rematch soon. This time, We’re Taking Names!”
